The Art Of Painting

As easy as it may sound, painting a room can take a lot of preparation and time to do.  Painting a room properly and making it look the best it can be involves certain steps and procedures.  The first step to painting a room is to take out all furniture and wall decorations.  Then, cover up anything that you don’t want to get paint on.  This would include the floor and outlets around the room.  After that, you want to sand down the surfaces you wish to paint (this includes the ceiling).  When you are completely done sanding, vacuum up the room and wash the walls down with water and a sponge.
The next step is filling in gaps and holes around the room.  Run a thin line of caulk over any gaps where the molding meets the wall.  Then, take a putty knife and patch up any holes in the walls.  You can use patching compound or joint compound depending on what type of walls you have.  You then want to go back and sand until its smooth, then wipe down with warm water and a sponge again.
Now you’re ready to paint!  Go around the room and cut in all the corners with a small paint brush.  This would include areas such as corners or right up against the molding.  That way, once you are ready to lay the paint on thick, you don’t have to worry about getting paint in areas that it’s not supposed to be.  When you are ready to paint the entire wall, dip the roller in the paint and move it back and forth until the paint is evenly dispersed around the entire roller.  Squeeze out any excess and paint away!
As you can see, painting a room is not a hard task.  It just takes a lot of groundwork and time to make sure you are being as precise as you possibly can be.  If you would rather not do it yourself, you can get an interior painter to do it for you.  Nevertheless, refer back to these steps when you are looking to remodel a room in your home!
